To make a long story short my first Busse had G-10, still have it but I’m thinking it needs to go. Why? You ask. Because just like my Sebenza, micarta is what really makes the knife. At least for me. I understand that G-10 is great, you can’t destroy this stuff and you can get it in just about any color combo that you can dream up. But the feel is just not for me. And it’s heavy. G-10 just didn’t push me in the Busse direction.

Anyway, onto the micarta. It is great on my Sebenza and even better on a Busse. Doesn’t add much weight and has a feel all its own. It adds life to the knife. Between the two types that I have linen and canvas I feel that the linen aids in a better grip. It is more like a 220 grid sandpaper and it real holds onto the skin. It is more tacky, if you will. The canvas is nice but it doesn’t have that tackiness. The canvas feels smoother. Does anybody else have this experience? Most importantly what colors of micarta came/come in the linen besides green? Plus, because of the difference of thread in the linen and canvas I assume that the canvas will hold up better to use. Or are they about the same? As in I really doubt one could destroy either.

I am a huge micarta fan myself. As you have mentioned G10 looks very nice and comes it various different colors and combination and darn near indestructible. However, the feel of G10 just cannot compare to micarta.

Most people will find that canvas micarta is more grippy than linen. The reason is because the canvas material is more coarse and porous than the finer linen fabric.

The few linen micarta that I can think of are Black Linen, Green Linen, Maroon Linen, Red Linen, and White Linen

I figured the canvas would be more grippy but for some odd reason I didn't find it true. I think I'll have to test it out again when I get off work. And to really make sure get some more micarta samples to make sure. A larger selection of colors would be nice.

Agreed, I've only one Busse with G10, a blue/black handled BATAC and I just can't get used to the feel or the heft. I going to take it hiking with me as the weather picks up and if I can't learn to love it, then up for trade she goes.
