Im new to Kailash Blades. But I'm not newcomer to Kukri. Been studying and collecting these blades for over a decade and have picked up a bit of knowledge. ( find the history/culture behind the Kukri fascinating.)
Made my first Kailash order last week...

Opted for the pensioner in desert micarta with copper fittings. . with both Salyani and kydex sheaths.

I was wondering if the micarta that you use can be dyed?

I was torn between plain black and desert options and went with the camo as I wanted something distinctive and different.

I have had success using rit dye in the past on micarta scales to get more appealing colours on esee and becker knives.

Im guessing that I could use the same basic, rit dye process on Kailash made micrta?

This is a fantastic forum btw.

Hey there Caldey!
Thanks for joining up :)
We have no experience with rit dye or applying any dye prior during or after manufacture. From what I have read online rit dye works best with non synthetic fabrics. I've asked the team to confirm and they have said that desert and forest camo both burn rather than melt which suggests that it is not synthetic. Orange micarta is definitely synthetic.
Take care,
Andrew and the team at Kailash

Awesome. Thanks for the answer pal.
I must say that your input onto these forums is outstanding. Your knowledge of your products is tremendous and inspires confidence. And you obviously have a deep passion for this sort of thing. That's an admirable quality to have..
I had a few questions before placing my order too. Radhe took care of those and he was excellent at giving me the info I needed.

So far, I'm really, really impressed by Kailash. I can't personally attest to the overall function and quality of your products till I get my hands on my order in a couple of months or so...but all the feedback i have seen from other customers leaves me to belive I shall be more than happy. And I'm excited...I certainly have the "Fizz"....and in this world, at my age (45) that's a rare feeling.

Nice one Andrew.
All the best for now pal..

Thanks very much :)
We're a small team who've been at it for quite a while so the knowledge is deep and the energy is there.
I'm sure you'll love one of our khukuris once you get your hands around them :)
