Micarta pocket clip

I have always had a problem with pocket clips.

Useful? Somewhat, although deep in my pocket is a pretty good place to carry most knives.

Attractive? Most pocket clips are barely acceptable from the appearance standpoint. The lines of most knives are spoiled by a clip.

Ergonomic? Most are poor in the hand.

So the solution seems to be the creation of a pocket clip that is not unpleasant in the hand or an affront to the eyes. An integral design made from the handle material might be the best bet.

Has anyone tried making a matching micarta clip on a micarta handle? This could probably be very unobtrusive in appearance, low profile and smooth. Would it work? Be strong enough? Comments please.

I was thinking that it would be glued directly on the handle scale and have one or two 4-40 or 2-56 torx screws through it into the knife frame as well. It could also have some carbon fiber sheet reinforcements if even more stiffness was required.
 
Actually G-10 may be better than Micarta. Although it seems to be springy enough to do the job, a 1/16" piece of Micarta will snap if bent sharply enough.
 
I lost a great knife once with a metal clip and have been sore about it ever since. My conccern would be the tension and how you could return the tension once it was gone. Also is the clip if a plastic glued to the handle scale wouldt you have to replace them both if one failed or wore?
 
What if you overlaid micarta over the clip like one would do to a liner? That might add too much more balk then the pocket clip already does; Unless you inlay the pocket clip into the handle. You might be able to make it so the micarta overlay on the clip is not much taller than the handle material. I am trying to picture it. I think I might try to put something together to see if it would work.

What do you think?
 
How about trying this.....We have liner locks,has anyone ever thought about making a liner clip on the other side,you could cover it with a thin piece of handle material also I believe...

Just a idea,But it could work.
