Micarta properties

Does Micarta resist gas,diesel fuel and other chemicals well. I am considering a fixed blade(Randall) with a Micarta handle but need a handle that is very resistant to fuels and chemicals. Thanks

I have worked with paper micarta and canvas micarta. while both are unaffected by fuel the canvas material tends to "wick" up oily material more than the paper and looks bad.

Given a choice in the environment you describe I would go with paper micarta.

If you need material which is chemical and fuel resistant, try Zytel. Zytel is resistant to all organic chemicals and dilited acids and alkalis.

G-10 is even tougher than micarta and totally non-absorbent.

my experience is that g 10 is absorbant. If you wash it with soap and it turns gray. then put some oil on it and it turns black.
