Micarta question.

Yes, micarta will darken over time from dirt, oil, blood, or whatever you put it in. You can clean it up with rubbing alcohol to make it look new again.

Here are two micarta knives after being carried heavily

Yes, micarta will darken over time from dirt, oil, blood, or whatever you put it in.

This is true, in varying degrees, throughout the micarta family.
With canvas micarta being the most effected, linen micarta the second most effected and paper micarta being the least effected.
It's all about the nap or loose end fibers.
Canvas micarta has a larger nap/fibers than linen micarta does and paper micarta has none.
The nap or loose fibers are what does the absorbing of the fluids.

If your micarta gets dark from oil from your hands, dawn dish soap will make em look new again. Works on blood too. Any dish soap that breaks down grease will work. I just said dawn because it works for me.

I didn't know alcohol would work for that. I thought it might have trouble breaking down the grease. I'll have to try it sometime.
