So I'm looking to get a set of those sweet micarta scales for my '9. I saw two sets:

These on the Kabar site
and
These from Tomars.

The Kabar site ones list them as green and as a limited run. There's a difference between these, I take it. Anyone have a pic of these green ones? They sound like a winner. I like green. Thanks in advance.

i dont think your linkys work

but, I know what youre talking about.

I believe they are both the same

Tomars being a retailer for Ka-Bar manufactured products, so they are both the same

I would call the grip colors tan and not green

Damn, sorry haha. Posting from my phone at work. I'll try again later on. I definitely want to pick a set up, I just was curious if the Kabar site ones are any different from the usual ones. Why say it's a limited production then?

They are the same, and I see it a more of a tan/olive color canvas micarta. The limited is the quantity at Tomar's. Since they sell out alot. Custom Micarta is the listing that just lets you know that each one is different in appearance.

Either way, they are the same thing, and they are marvelous. Get ready to add some weight to the knife, which, on most BKT's is not a problem, it helps balance out the longer blades. I found on the BK2, it puts more weight in the hand, and if that is what you want, cool. I'm back to grivory on all of my BKT's right now, because it feels so much better. My new BK7 that is coming in today, will sport micarta though. My BK5, not sure yet, I may strip it and get it shiny, shiny, shiny. Gotta do something cool with that knife, just don't know what right now though.

Sounds good. Thanks a lot, moose. They'll work really nicely on my BK9. The shape of the handles are great, but I prefer nice, grippy micarta.

I'm with ya, I had them on my BK9, but I wound up going back to the grivory. I don't find them slippery at all, on the contrary, the wetter my hands get, the better they stick. Blood and all. Of course, blood always makes things sticky, but when its still warm, it can get slick.

I wanna put micarta on my 7, because it can help distribute the weight, where as on my 9, it took some of the forward weight away.

I likes me some grivory and micarta. I use them both. My micarts feels thicker in my hands than the grivory does, so I sanded them down, feels just like the grivory now.

I keep telling Moose those owls are endangered, but does he listen?

Hey, owls aren't chickens, I figured you'd be happy about that. Fine, all bets are off, yardbirds are back on the menu. When they ask why, I'll just say, THE GUYON.

Since we are talking about Micarta here is there any way to get my hands on some of the older Micarta from Camillus?

Drug THE GUYON and steal his stockpile while he's out.

Seriously, finding them second hand is the only option you got now. There were a few dealers peddling them off CHEAP about 6yrs ago, that was the last time I seen or heard of new Cam Micarta handles going out. You can find collectors that will part with some, but for the money, get you some Kabar micarta and a belt sander, it will be cheaper.

Those be the ones. Thanks, bud. What's the deal? None of the other micarta handles look green.

Apologies to all for some rogue links. Next time my trigger fingers will not be so quick, sorry all.
