Micarta scales for Combat Smatchet?

I have always been enamored with the combat smatchet design and luckily was able to snag a Boker rendition in 2001. I received a numbered model from their limited run and couldn't bring myself to take it into the field. This is atypical for me as I love knives, but normally only buy one if I am willing to use it. So... I bought the current "plain" version offered by Boker to get dirty. The problem is the scales on it are flimsy feeling plastic and don't provide a positive grip. Also, they are just riveted on. I want the same kind of grips (and screws) on the ltd version to install on the "plain" version. I have searched high and low w/o success. I thought about taking the ones on the ltd smatchet, but then I'd have a collectible knife with no scales.

Is there anyone who specializes in these grips who could make some? I've emailed Boker using the address on their web page, but I think it got lost in the corporate bowels. Thanks in advance.

Bill Siegle has made Micarta grips for Beckers, most custom knife makers could do it easily if they had the time. Try to find one without a huge backlog.
