What do you think, are they ok if exposed to the weather? I was looking at the case jr.scout in g-10. & the GEC 73 pioneer. :p
Oh yeah, it's all everyones fault, I bought another peanut (YH-CV).:D

Micarta is some tough stuff and should be up to fairly rugged use.

Properly made micarta is pretty much impervious to weather and dirt. Anything factory made should handle anything you can throw at it.

Most micarta found in knife scales is based on epoxy resin, which is somewhat sensitive to the UV radiation found in direct sunlight. If you forgot your knife on the roof where the sun would directly hit it everyday and left it for for say 3 months, you would likely see some degradation of the surface. Short of that extreme exposure, it is extremely stable. Excellent resistance to moisture, solvents, and cleaners.

From a durability standpoint, what do you think of micarta v. linen micarta v. canvas micarta...or does it matter? I have all three but haven't used any in a hell and back manner.

My experience is that while canvas micarta can be the grippiest if properly utilized, I think that linen micarta may be the most durable (and attractive imho).
