Just took delivery of a lnib micarta AL Mar shrike, man is this thing smooth! It is has a different feel- a *tad* on the large side , but handles like a dream. Seems about the same size as my 710, maybe a tad smaller- but has a lighter feel to it; find this very cool in light of the fact that it also seems to be very well made, very strong build. Lockup on this thing is incredibly tight, not a hint of wiggle anywhere. Though a bit slick, I do like the look and feel of the micarta scales- and they do seem to become grippier with wet hands. It is quickly finding a place at the top of the edc list, really like this knife.

I have one and agree on all points. Very smooth and easy action on that model, a pleasure to open.

I had that knife and experienced the same thing.

I had mine converted to tip-up carry and then sold it recently for the $$. I wonder if you ended up with mine.

That thing was AMAZINGLY smooth! It flicked open like an auto with barely a nudge of the stud.

Al Mar makes excellent knives, but that one is pretty special.

100% fighting knife.

Do you have the satin-finished blade? Nice blade finish, huh?

It is configured for tip up carry, I remember the one you sold not too long ago- took too long to make up my mind on that one so when this knife popped up I jumped on it:). Not real sure about the blade finish, but it does appear to be more satin than polished- picked it up from miguet a week or so ago. Yes, the blade has an excellent finish. One of the more secure liner locks I have come across- its a liner by design, but has the more solid feel of a framelock. Have really come to like vg-10 steel as well, takes a real good edge.

I really like the Shrike. If the SERE 2000 is a tank, the Shrike is a jet fighter. Very light yet solid, opens as smooth as silk and the thing is damn sharp. Every bit as good as a SERE 2000 but in a very different way.
