Micarta Spydies Questions

Hi! First time here. I'm currently bidding on a Micarta handled Calypso Jr. The seller said that the box was marked "experimental", which is kind of a bummer since I want this to be an EDC to replace my FRN CJ. I loooooove Micarta!! :p Did Spyderco ever made Mica knives in any significant numbers? I seemed to remember seeing/reading about Japanese market Spydies in Mica. Any info would be greatly apreciated.

If you don't get it, there's somebody who visits here & who sells discontinued Spyderco's. I THINK it's John Jensen. He has a supply of Micarta Calypso Jr's (Serrated edge only). Nice man to purchase from - I've done so several times, including the MicCal Jr. but for some reason I can never seem to recall his exact name! Maybe it's a mid 50's thing?

Thank you all for the info!! I won my Mica CJ :D and is waiting impatiently for it. Thanks to you guys, I'm gonna use it for my EDC(since I can always get another). Joe.
