  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Hi all! My amazing boyfriend has given me some jewelry and beads made with micarta and I am just curious as to what the consensus is about if micarta is waterproof or not? I am aware I could totally just google this but I'd love to have some more professional opinions too!

Micarta is waterproof, and is also unaffected by oils and solvents.

Micarta is nice stuff. It's water proof and blood proof as far as knife handle use. Soaking it submerged in water for two weeks? I don't know.

blood proof is something I didn't even think about tbh! I am notoriously accident prone so this is super helpful!

Micarta can absorb water and liquids and stain over time. I have some water stained micarta at home; it's vintage stuff and the bottom of the piece where it is lighter in color shows staining from what I am assuming is water.
