Micarta?

I've been seeing some really cool looking knives that have micarta handles and was just wondering what is it and can you make it yourself or is just to big a PIA to do yourself.

yea ya might wanna do it outside...Wal-MArt has a nice selection of material for ya...The Resin you will prolly have to order online

I have been making some micarta, found resin at auto parts stores that sell auto body supplies, also some Wal-Mart stores have it too, I used Bondo fiberglass resin, it is fun and stinky. Work fast this stuff sets quick.

Thanks to dozuki and Leatherface. It never occurred to me that you could make your own Micarta. I'm glad you asked that question. I just learned something really interesting from reading this thread and the link to the tutorial
