Michael D. Echanis Knife?

I just picked up "The Complete Michael D. Echanis Collection: Special Tactics for Knife and Stick Combat". Pretty awesome book! I trained in Hwa Rang Do for about 5 years when I was a teen and my instructor taught us knife defense and offense that he learned when he was a Green Beret. He always mentioned Michael Echanis but I totally forgot the name until I picked the book up yesterday at Borders on clearance! I was wondering what knife he uses in it. It kind of looks like a Mark II or maybe a Applegate Fairbairn...

Also, does anyone know how the Al Mar and Spyderco "WARRIOR" is supposed to be designed according to Echanis' work? It doesn't look like any knife I've seen a picture of him holding, training, or teaching with. I was thinking maybe he stated somewhere what a fighting knife should be?
 
echanis was truly an amazing warrior. i remember reading some of his comments in S.O.F. his ability bordered on legendary but no one can withstand explosives & plane crashes.--dennis
 
This is the guy who supposedly killed goats just by staring at them (with ninja mind power) so take anything he writes with a pinch of salt!

Isn't that all crap that was talked about after his death? I don't think he ever claimed anything like that... (Not that I've read anyway)

Either way, I know he was an amazing hwa rang do practitioner and there is a certain amount of spiritual and mental practice along with the physical training, but I wouldn't consider him a kook.
