Michael Janich will be teaching the following seminars in Amarillo, TX 20-22 April 2007:
Friday, April 20, 2007:
Empty-Hand Tactics/Damithurt Silat
In this four-hour seminar, Michael Janich presents a crash-course in his rarely taught empty-hand fighting system, which draws from more than 30 years of experience and analysis of the martial arts. Designed to provide a one-stop solution for empty-hand self-defense needs or to integrate seamlessly with any other martial arts style, this system focuses on multi-functional patterns of movements that allow one combative plan to serve many defensive functions. Youll also learn how to understand the root of martial arts form, integrating empty-hand and weapons-based mechanics into a universal personal defense system. This seminar will be conducted at the Martial Arts and Athletics Center ("the MAAC"), 3820 Line Avenue, Amarillo, TX 79106 (about three blocks east of Western St. and about 1.3 miles north of I-40's exit number 67). Tuition is $35.00. For additional information and registration details, please contact Charles Rives at (806) 517-0794 or e-mail porcupineprotection-seminar@yahoo.com.
Saturday, April 21, 2007:
Martial Blade Concepts Critical Skills
This intensive eight-hour course presents all the critical skills necessary to effectively defend yourself with a knife. A distilled version of Janichs comprehensive MBC system, this course focuses on the go-to tactics that will give you practical, effective defensive knife skills in the shortest possible time. It includes detailed, hands-on instruction in standard-grip knife tactics, use of the live hand, knife stopping power and targeting concepts, and integrated use of the knife and natural body weapons. All participants are encouraged to bring eye protection, a purpose-designed training knife (preferably a folding trainer), and an Ace bandage or wrist/forearm guard. A limited number of loaner training knives will also be available. This seminar will be conducted at the Martial Arts and Athletics Center ("the MAAC"), 3820 Line Avenue, Amarillo, TX 79106 (about three blocks east of Western St. and about 1.3 miles north of I-40's exit number 67). Tuition is $150.00. For additional information and registration details, please contact Charles Rives at (806) 517-0794 or e-mail porcupineprotection-seminar@yahoo.com.
Sunday, April 22, 2007:
Counter-Blade Concepts (CBC)
Counter-Blade Concepts is a complete course designed to maximize your chances of survival when facing an attacker armed with an edged weapon. Unlike traditional disarming, CBC is designed to keep you safe while you disable your attacker and either seek immediate escape or draw your own weapon to even or stack the odds in your favor. This course includes critical analysis of actual knife attack incidents, as well as a step-by-step instructional presentation in practical, effective counter-knife tactics.
I hope to see you there.
Stay safe,
Mike
