Noted author and self-defense authority Michael Janich will be teaching two seminars in the Columbus, OH area on September 14-16, 2007. These focused courses will address specific aspects of his acclaimed “Martial Concepts” system of self-defense, including elements of his Martial Blade Concepts (MBC), Counter-Blade Concepts (CBC), and Damithurt Silat systems.

Friday, September 14, 2007: Hard-Core Self-Defense with Improvised Weapons
This intensive four-hour course presents step-by-step instruction in the secrets of recognizing, selecting, and effectively employing everyday objects as improvised weapons. In addition to learning devastating ways of employing pens, flashlights, bottles, books, magazines, and backpacks as weapons, you’ll also learn how to smuggle, modify, and craft weapons so you’ll never be unarmed—even in tightly controlled environments. This course will be conducted from 6:00-10:00PM at Grove City Karate, 4068 Hoover Road, Grove City, OH 43123. Tuition is $40.00. All participants are encouraged to bring a Magic marker, a small flashlight, and a small backpack, if possible.

Saturday and Sunday, September 15-16, 2007: Martial Concepts—Street Skills Workshop
This two-day seminar will present comprehensive instruction in all aspects of armed and unarmed street combatives, including targeted modules on the following topics:
•Knife tactics/ Martial Blade Concepts (MBC) critical skills (standard and reverse grip)
•Counter-weapon tactics and weapon disarming (knife, stick, and handgun)
•Unarmed Combatives
•Joint Locks and Breaks
•Improvised weapon tactics
•Combat applications of traditional martial arts form
This course will be conducted from 9:00AM-5:00PM both days at Life Time Fitness, 3900 Easton Station Columbus, Ohio 43219. Tuition for both days is $125.00 if you pre-register, $150.00 if you register after September 1. Single-day tuition is $80.00 if you pre-register, if you register after September 1. All participants are encouraged to bring eye protection.
