So...I decided to take a chance on a new custom knife, by Michael Morris (mykulmorris). Received his little necker, made from a file, around 6 1/4" overall, with tan cord wrap and tan kydex sheath.

All I can say is....WOW!

Superbly done. Grip is fantastic, and this knife came sharp like NO other, about equal to a long time ago R.J. Martin piece.

And you know how sometimes you get a great knife, but the sheath just sucks? Well Michael nailed this kydex just right. Not only is it good around the neck, but it is a sleeper for in-pocket carry or IWB or..... just about any carry you want.

Haven't put it through any work yet, I'm still admiring :D

File grooves on top of spine give it a natural grip if you use a saber grip.
Handle gives wonderful purchase for hammer grip. Yeah, yeah, I know it is a utility piece, but I can't help it. Knife feels solid without feeling overweight.

Package arrived quickly, included a nice personal note on recommended maintainence, he stayed in touch the whole way, he conducts business the way it should be done. Thank you.

AUGH! i ordered one too, but the post office is taking their time in getting my MO to Mykulmorris....lol

seeing yours is a very nice temporary reprieve though!

and yes, Mykulmorris is great for releasing the carrier pigeon and updating us!

I think that one great future variation on that knife would be a 1/2" longer blade with more of slender, bird and trout type of profile, thinner longer clip point. Been playing a bit with it today, and I like it more and more.

Where did you buy it? Simply through Morris himself?

Seems like a cool concept and execution of it. $55 is pretty damn good too for it! Hmm, has me thinking.

YEs, go to the Makers Forum, Fixed Blade Subforum, you might have to go back a page or two, its there.

I have one of Michael's Torpedo neckers (the one with the integral thumbsnap). It is an awesome little knife. Really nice lines on knife & sheath, great craftsmanship & grind.

click on my name, view public profile, go to my 'statistics' , click on ' all threads started by mykulmorris ', look for ' torpedo '...

Mine just arrived and I am impressed. This is an awesomely crafted and useful knife with a great feel and a very sharp edge. Sheath is also very secure.
