Here's a dressed-up version of Michael Rader's EDC knife that he made for me recently and Caleb Royer photographed it. I couldn't be happier with their work.
Even thought it's a knife to carry on dressy occasions, it would make a heck of a Bird & Trout knife. The contours of the handle and guard create a piece that's VERY ergonomic and comfortable in the hand. It's Damascus Integral construction with a beautifully finish piece of Koa for the handle.

Specifications:
Integral Blade & Guard: Michael's Damascus
Handle Make-up: Premium Koa with a Koa Butcap and Walrus Ivory, G-10 and Copper spacers
OAL: 8-1/2"
BL: 3-7/8"

A big thanks to Michael and Caleb.
As always, I thank you in advance for your participation and ALL opinions/comments are appreciated.

That is outstanding work all around, knife and photo.

beautiful knife

Michael really makes some cool integrals, and his "wood skills" rank with the best

Very cool, Kevin. Nice to see the specs, I thought that it looked a little bit longer than mine. Very, very nice progression of things from mine, a very worthy progression, I would say. Michael's stuff just keeps getting better and better.

Stunning wood! Steel looks great and the form of handle and blade say fabulous user...but it's so darned pretty.

I second Mr Brand's question...Sheath? Congrats Kevin, great score

Thanks guys for all the comments.
Very nice Kevin. Is it getting a sheath?

Yes, getting a sheath, but still deciding which direction to go with it.

Reed, not positive on the exact specs as Caleb still has the knife. I had the stated lengths written on a folder and assume they were for this knife, could possibly be a little longer.
I will edit if I find they are incorrect.

Gorgeous little knife! What a high degree of finish on that koa.

You guys are right, I've never seen a wood handle finished to this degree.

I have some 'WIP' shots that I will post latter.

Again, Thanks

I don't know anything about this model, so I am curious from a design standpoint, why he uses a butt-cap instead of one solid piece of Koa. Is this a take-down / is the butt-cap is removable? Is there another advantage? Or is it an aesthetic choice?

TIA!

Kevin, I would love to see the WIP pics, especially pics of how he finishes the wood to that degree (ca, tru-oil, ???)

Aesthetics. It is kind of his signature look, with varying materials used in that shape of butt-cap.
