Ok so I do understand and have read the laws as well as descriptions I found threw google.. pretty much you can carry any knife concealed on your person as long as you have no unlawful intent.. But at cabelas the guy I bought my bm mini barrage from I asked if it was a legal carry length he pulled a tape said its a little under 3 inches so its good.. Is that something they do to cover themselves or am I fine carrying my junkyard dog 2 concealed as long as I have no unlawful intent.. which brings my other question if I had to use it in self defense would I be in trouble for having over 3 inches.. I will say I have no record beyond a couple speeding tickets so I am a law abiding working citizen.

You can carry whatever size you want within reason.

"Is it illegal to have a knife with a blade over 3 inches in my possession?

MCL 750.226 No. Michigan law specifies that a person, with intent to use the knife unlawfully against another, shall not go armed with a knife having a blade over 3 inches in length. "

Probably don't want to carry a Rajah 2 around with you but unless you run into a real dickhead cop there shouldn't be any problems. Might want to print out the law just in case since the cops don't always know either.

With self defense you might be ok but don't ever say your knife is for self defense because they may take that as unlawful intent. And anyway I think that if someone uses a sub 3" knife against someone and is found in the wrong it is still considered a deadly weapon as well. Just don't threaten anyone I guess.
