Michigan Knife laws.....Carrying a fb

Does anyone from Mich. know what the law is for carrying a fb(hunting/edc) ? I've already done a search. The law is very vague IMO. A hunting knife is OK

but the law doesn't say how or where or anything about being visable as far as I can tell.

I have a couple edc size fb that I carry sometimes in a sheath in my rf pocket with the handle visable.....is this legal? I would think carrying a hunting knife on a

belt is OK but again the wording seems quite vague to me.

Can anyone from Mich. tell me if carrying a fb in a sheath in front pocket with part of the handle visable is legal ?

I don't think the police or state police could help...............they read the same vague laws......very Gray.

I called the police station the other day to ask this same question. The person told me it's based on a cop by cop situation, and that almost anything would be legal because it's for hunting.

Wow, I went thru this about five months ago. I called the local State Police post on three different occasions and received three different answers!

I was told no fixed blades or butterfly's at all on two calls. There was also blade length issues where once I was told 3 inches is the limit and once told 3 1/2 inch blade would be fine so I decided not to carry a Para 2 and stick with the 3 inch limit.

As other will say, it is too gray to be sure. The only statue stipulates the blade length of 3 inches is only reference when commiting a crime!

Good luck! :)

EDIT: Here is a link to a thread created earlier if that helps!

I still carry my 3+ inch blades. I have a friend in MI who got caught with a bali and the cop told him to not carry it anymore, but he didn't take it. Obviously it's not a recommendation, Like fixedblades said, it's cop-by-cop situations, and you could potentially lose your knife to a cop who thinks you're carrying a knife for the wrong reasons. Carrying my Spydie Sage 1 now, so shouldn't have to worry anyway lol.
