I have looked up laws on knife carry in Michigan and still do not fully understand them. Is anyone familiar with them and able to simply explain them, just by means of what's legal to carry and what isn't. Thanks guys.

From what I understand, the only illegal knives to own are automatic knives. Balisongs are legal to own and carry. Fixed blades are illegal for carry unless they are a hunting knife. The law is very confusing, and very unclear. It says you can't carry a blade over 3 inches with "unlawful intent". I personally carry a Paramilitary 2, and I've never had any problems. I printed out a copy of the MI knife laws and put it in my wallet, incase it's ever needed for clarification. What are you usually carrying?

I am also in Michigan, and I just got a Gerber 3.25 inch fixed blade. So I can't carry it at all in public for self defense or a tool? It has to be for hunting because it is a fixed blade?
