Mick,

As I am waiting for my SnG to arrive I am like a kid at Christmas!

But...

I was wondering about the testing process inflicted on the SnG?
How has the G-10 slab side been holding up?
What tests have you guys subjected the SnG to?
How does the pocket clip with the rubber washer work? Its there to add tension? How has that held up?

Just some questions I'll be putting my SnG to work right away when I GET IT!

It is not replacing my GB just joining in the fun!
I really think I will prefer the SnG for EDC though. Sometimes I hesitate pulling my GB out in certain circles ;)

Thanks in advance for the reply!

Simple, they just put a few in some ground mail packages, and shipped them accross the country a few times!

I was looking at the one that Duane had at the BAKCA show in October. It was well used and no longer had any tigerstripes on it, but was still in pretty good shape. He claimed that it had been on several dives with him as well. What made me cringe the most was his graphic discription of how he used his SnG to trim the weeds that grow in the cracks of his driveway. He topped the story off by giving us his imitation of the grinding noise the blade makes as it scrapes across the cement. Horrific!

That Duane... the ultimate hardcore house dad!:D

I carried my XM SnG for over a year before I put her down….
That’s kind of like a normal person having it for a hundred years.

I put it through all the normal stuff, cutting, hacking and pounding…

Ive done the scraping of weeds from concrete as well.

Ive cut over a thousand linier feet of 20 year old carpet. (for fun)

I cut a 6X6 Douglas Fir post in half. (had to use a hammer on the spine for this one)

Scribed LOTS of Kydex. (hold the knife backwards and pull the tip along the kydex to make a breaking point) Great test of the lock.

Shot the thing with 9mm 45ACP and .762mm (g10 side) 9mm and 45 make a mark. Just that. They make a mark. .762mm makes a perfect .762mm hole. Almost like you used a drill.

G10 is amazing stuff. There have been ZERO issues with the G10.

The rubber washer is another story. Don’t look for any rubber washers on your knives. They will be kind of hard to find. We scrapped the idea. They would degrade too quickly.

Okay gotta go.

Any more questions?

Mick,
Sounds like a hell of a test. I will probably be putting my SnG through the same work MINUS THE SHOOTING it with my .45, 5.56, or .40 for that matter!

I have read a lot about G-10 material and it is super tough stuff!

I read they use it in the Space Shuttle as floor material and other applications.

7.62mm must have been cool.

How thick was the piece you shot? Was it an actual handle slab?

my only thoughts are due to my skepticism of linerlock and linerlock-like designs.

over time, does the tip of the framelock wear at all? that is, how's the bladeplay issue of the knife?

I am to assume none, or else you guys wouldn't be selling a framelock. But i think the question is legitimate.

I have to admit I don't know anything about framelocks. I held a sebenza for the first time a few days ago in a knifeshop in San Francisco.

I don't like metal handles...

So Mr. Mick

Now that you put the XM SnG down...what are you carrying now?

I was fortunate/unfortunate to handle Mr. Duane's knife at Blade West. Now I am trying wait patiently for the e-mail letting me know I will soon have one of my very own.

Actually playing with one is making the wait even harder! Great knife Strider guys! :D

FYI,
I still have more weeds if anyone else would like to use my SNG.

Duane,

I can be there in 1 to 2 hours. Give me the street address and I'm on my way.

BTW... I'm keeping it when I'm done.

Mick,

Sent e-mail 2+ weeks ago about a trainer I wanted. Can Do? or No Go?
