I just found out that Mick Langley lives here on Vancouver Island.

I'm not familiar with his work, but he's got a table this weekend in Qualicum at a craft fair. I don't think I'll be able to make it up there to meet him, so I was hoping that some of you fine folk might have some photos of his past work.

He is a past ABS MS, and I'm impressed by what I've seen of his knives. There's a nice dagger at Arizona Custom Knives, just in case you want to check it out.

:)

i can't remember where i got the information from, but i think he let his ms status "die" several years ago but later tested again. that's why you see his ms stamp on some blades but not on others. however, his name is listed on the abs ms list, but without the year when he got his ms stamp:

dan delavan of plaza cutlery always has some of mr langley's knives for sale:

best regards,

Thanks Hans.
The man makes a pretty nice knife, eh?

Lorien -- Mick is good friends with Ron Lockhart and also with Harald Moeller on the Island. I have known Mick for many years when he lived in Sask. and attended CKCC shows in the Toronto area. Here is one of his knives

the sheath was done by Ron Post's brother Butch who no longer does them but this one is very good.

hey thanks! I've talked with Harald numerous times. He's a cool cat. I keep meaning to get up there for a visit and throw some knives with him.
I think I'll get in touch with Mick once I find his contact info. He might be a bike guy, if I'm lucky!;)

I have owned many of Mick's knives. They are solidly made and a bit old-fashioned , but solid knives and usually very fairly priced. He liked filework more than most.
He trained with Jim Schmidt.

man, this is such a cool hobby! Like an onion.

Lorien -- doubt you will be able to throw with Harald as his home really does not have a location for a target. He has also cut back almost to none of his Viper throwers. Might be a few available on his site from past construction. He is primarily concentrating on folders. BTW -- if you are interested in throwing, you could join some of the throwing lists available. There are quite a few tournaments in the US throughout the year for throwers.

Hey Murray, good call. I'll have to invite Harald down here to use my range. I've looked a bit into the tourny thing, but I do it mainly for stress relief and pure pleasure. Competing would probably screw it up for me.

For anyone else who might be able to attend, I just would like to reiterate that Mick Langley will have a table this weekend at the Qualicum craft fair, and admission is free! (I haven't totally pulled the plug yet. If it's a nice day, I might bring my little princess up for a road trip. She loves those goats that live on the roof of the corner store).
