Mick - Please Enlighten Me

Well, first you have to have lost your millionaire parents during a robbery, then you need a butler and a cave... :D

My Bad Guys. Sorry to bastardize. :(

In Ontario, Mick talked about the "Bad Man"; I found his talk a Good Listen. Looking forward to seeing those thoughts posted here...

Mr. Samuel,
That was funny as hell!
Raptor,
The "bad man" is the person every country needs to have in time of chaos. He is exactly what politicians try to convince you the public that we don't need.
He is not the bad man because of his training, equiptment, support, logistics or intel.
He is the bad man because for whatever reason every ounce of his soul wants to kill the enemy in the most violent graphic nature thinkable. He is the 17 year old farm kid who didn't know he could be the bad man. He is the war torn veteran who has been the bad man before. He is exactly what makes men live free for it is the bad man in a person who will fight to his death because he realizes there are things in life more important than life itself.
Much can be said about this and I may sound "Hollywood" to some of you. I am not. Ask any survivor of a violent confrontation the details of his experience and if he can tell you all of them, he is lying and has never been the bad man.
Most of the time, the bad man cannot be summoned, he usually comes on the scene within the body of the last one you would expect at that critical point in time when things are all wrong and becomes a hero, dead or alive.
I am proud to say, I have seen the bad man work and I hope you never need to meet or become one. But I am very happy he exists.

I'll finish with a quote one of our fellow forum members used earlier;
"Kind hearted people might think there was some ingenious way to disarm or defeat an enemy without too much blood. This is a fallacy."
Carl von Clausewitz "The Principles of War"
All the best,
Duane Dwyer

Now I understand, and I would say that was well put. If it was'nt for these unfortunate "Bad Men" then we would'nt have the freedom of speach, so we could here people complain about not needing them.

I thought what Sam wrote was pretty damn funny too. Sorry if I came off sounding like a ****.

Thanks for your well though/written responce Duane.

The bad man is a scary man indeed. He is inside almost everyone, regardless of how deep you need to go to find him.

Thing I like about you Strider guys is same as I like about those crazy knife folks in AZ way. You get it about the beast within and that the beast is what we need from time to time, ugly as he is. Not enough people out there get it, thank God the bad man and things like him are part of us at the instinctual level and they have not found a way to genetically engineer this out of us yet. I suspect when this happens the world wins.

The Bad Man was certainly alive on Flight 93.

In respect to the images Duane gives us above and the "hollywood" reference, perhaps the closest many of us will see is the sequence in the film "The Patriot" where Mel goes insane with the bowie and hatchet to save his kid. Scripted and choreographed to be sure, but certainly a good example of which we speak here.

Dear Mr Dwyer:
I too sir am proud of you and your words are those of truth.......Ira

Paul Vunak has a "kit" on Killer Instinct training that is worth a look. I think it is a book and audio tape; there may be more there too, but I forget now.

I've been to a couple of Jeet Kune Do seminars (not with Paul, but with certified instructors who have trained with Paul) where we did soem of the Killer Instinct stuff. I can honestly say that the Killer Instinct material has penetrated every aspect of my training. I think this si so because it is so primal, and so effective. Vunak's program tells you that everyone has the Bad Man inside of them, and you can train yourself to let him out, and put him back too, when needed.

We were told to think of a fight like a scale of 1 to 10. You want to keep yourself at a level that allows you to survive until an opening happens. So, you may be at a 4 (of aggression, anger, etc.) and I may need to kick myself up to 2 or 3. You may pugh hard, up to a 6 , and I will need to kick things up to a level that allows me to deal with things. Then the magic happens when that opening occurs. Openings, or interceptions, occur when the opponent stumbles, after you have finger jabbed them in the eye and they "flinch", after your fast snap kick to their balls has struck home, or whatever. Once you get that opening, BAM! Kick it to 10, RUN down their throats and feed elbows, head butts, etc.

One drill we would do is start at the end of a room facing a partner. Line A would straight blast (series of rapid punches done on the run in order to get to the neck) whiel line B would back pedal as fast as they could to avoid getting hit. If they get hit, they lose. The instructor would bang rattan sticks together as a que for line A to kick it to 10 and BLAST down their throats. We would stop at the half-way mark of the hall if no punches scored home. Then we shortened the distance and repeated. And repeated. And we did it until we were allowed to take only one step. As the distance was shortened, that fire inside actually would burn hotter once the sticks were banged together. I can still remember just beign fixated on my partner's neck, I wanted to eat it for lunch. BANG woudl go the sticks and I'd launch out yelling. Ahh... that's good training!

Anyways, that is just some idea of my dances with the Bad Man. Check out VUnak's Killer Instinct stuff if you want more. or bug Mick and Duane! Bug them enough and you may see the Bad Man! :)

I hope this helps.

It is always a treat to hear it from someone who has been there done that. And the sad thing is there are so many of these "Bad Men" out there who have been left hanging in the wind...the day the "Bad Man" fails to show himself will be a sad day for America...and yet the Government still has a hard time unmaking the "Bad Men" they have built...God Bless and Keep All of Our HEROS! even if america won't.

Hey,
Thanks for the good words. And Mr. Parker, you hit the nail on the head with the "Patriot" movie thing. If watching your child be taken off to die doesn't bring out the bad man in a person, nothing will.
God Bless the Children!
Duane
