Hello,
I have recently discover that Mickey Finn was a Knife designer who have worked for Phrobis.
Buck knives have built a knife designed by Mickey Finn: the buck 186 titanium. It was discontinued in 1987 and followed by the 560 models.
I haven't find other pocket knives designed by Mickey Finn; does anyone knows if he has designed other pocket knives?
thanks
Martin

Mickey Finn didn't work for BUCK. So I doubt you'll find a Finn designed Buck pocket knife.

The Buckmaster was actually invented by Qual-A-Tec, a small R&D company formed in 1981. Fred Schumacher was a high-powered tax attorney who was looking for "acceptable" R&D developers. He met Charles A. (Mickey) Finn and talked him into starting the company. Mickey's intensions were to develop products in support of the U.S. Special Forces. (This was before USSOCOM was formed.) The shop started in one small bay in an industrial complex at 3204 Production Ave. in Oceanside, Ca. The R&D money flowed well for a couple of years then started to dry up as tax laws changed. Mickey was looking for other markets to develop products for and decided to go into the knife development business.

Go to the website and you'll find out all the information about the Finn/Phrobis/Buck connection in regards to the Buckmaster (184), Buckmaster LT (185) and M9 Bayonet.

BTW, other Phrobis knives were made by Marto of Spain.
These included a number of gulf war commemorative M9's, the US Navy SEAL CUK (which was a 5 inch survival knife - its basically a scaled down version of the M9 fixed blade; which was prone to snap at the guard or inner handle tang juncture hence its very short service life), and its civillian counterpart with three changable zytel guard configurations.

I remember watching the very first Mickey Finn cartoon, "Steamboat Willie", back in the '50's...It was a hoot...Mickey looked quite different back then...It was set on a paddlewheel boat (IIRC), and had Mickey singing and dancing...strutting, really... :D

Cartoons were much better back then...Popeye and Bluto; Porky Pig; Elmer Fudd; Bugs, Daffy, Road Runner/Wily Coyote...much more interesting than the mindless drivel/government propaganda fed to kids these days... :grumpy:
