The industry patting itself on the back - in the form of a commercial ......
I mean over the years who else but high school drop outs could spend Billions and all too often only create at best average products. Oh wait there is the so called, self titled, spoof called "The Stimulus" .....Now thats a sales job!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this
So far, the only thing I've seen tonight that impressed me was Jerry Lewis receiving a humanitarium award. He's been helping to raise money for a great charity for decades. Although he's not a perfect human (no one is) as some of his actions have shown, he has made life better for many families.
Looking past his faults, I see a good human being.
I have nothing against Rourke, but the award is for best actor right? As such I think it should go to Ledger, not because he passed away, but because his work in Dark Knight was superb, in terms of acting.
it was... weird. I think if anything, the skill of his acting on the dark knight was shown in his ability to not get involved in the violence. when he killed people, it wasn't out of anger, the death, the adrenaline dump of emotions most people have, it just wasn't there. so scenes like when he slams the guys head into the pencil on the table, it felt wholly empty and devoid of what you expect from that kind of interaction. Thats what the joker was supposed to be in the film, someone completely detached and playing the game, not a part of it, a true sociopath.
From an intellectual level I understand why it was an amazing performance, but from a gut level, I wasn't afraid of him. I was afraid of the situations, but not him or his involvement in them. it was weird. I felt nothing for or towards the character.
