Hey guys, check this out.
Gatorland in Orlando Florida, where I work, burned down this past Monday. At least the main building did (admissions, gift shop, admin.,etc.). Luckily, with the exception of two snakes and a crocodile, all our other animals are ok, but we've been in the process of cleaning up. Yesterday myself and s few others were in the main lake, barricading a portion off from the rest of the lake so the construction crews can work. We were getting the crocs and gators out onto the other side of the barriers, and were IN the water with them. Well, I had my keychain attached to my belt loop, and my Micra on my keychain. I also had my LM Wave on my belt. I was waist deep in water for a good portion of the day, and when I got home, I realized my Micra is now all rusted up!! This sucks. My Wave is good as new, even after having been submerged in sotty, chemically polluted water for hours at a time. Guess I gotta get me a new keychan tool.

Whoa! Completely rusted? Or just on the exterior? I've carried an LM-Micra on my keycahin for the better part of 10 yrs. with only a few rust spots to show for it. I've used it in almost every condition I could think of while on or off the job, mud, sleet, vehicle maintenance, etc.

Then again I regularly clean all my tools whenever I have nothing to do.

Was it just the polluted water that caused all the damage, you figure?

Yeah, it probably was. It is fresh water, but because of the fire, it is contaminated with asbestos and fiberglass insulation, soot, etc. Plus any chemicals the firemen used to put out the fire. It was far normal conditions, so I'm guessing that's what did it.

Likewise, I have also carried a Micra for almost 10 years, about as long as they have been on the market, I think. Mine shows no rust. One exposure shoudn't have done all that damage.

Dude, you have been marinated in some mighty toxic brew! Do take care of your health.

I was gonna say the same thing. Unless your Micra was rusted to begin with. The chemicals you were exposed to must have been very toxic. You better see if your getting any side-effects from that exposure, and see a specialist to be sure. I'm sure you must have some medical benefits from your employer, working with animals and all.

If you're not worried about your own health, then think of the people you come into contact with.
