I'm thinking of buying a small multitool for my pocket. The scissors is particularly important. Anyone have any opinion between the Leatherman Micra and the Sog Cross Cut?

Also, are either of these allowed on planes?

My thanks.

I know the micra is nice, but I xcan't vouch for the SOG, I'v never used one. Neither one is allowed on a plane, but you can pack it in your checked luggage.

I actually bought both of them at the same time to see which i would like better. I ended up giving the Leatherman to my girlfriend, since it was nicer and i knew i was just going to screw mine up at work. And screw it up i did. Anyway, i'd suggest to you the Leatherman Micra.
Hope that helps

I'ved carried a micra everyday for the last 8 years, there's absolutely nothing bad i could say about it. I can't imagine ever leaving the house without it.

Leatherman Micra. The scissors will work on tougher materials as well. Have cut numerous cable ties with mine.

The Micra is great ( however, no experience with the SOG). I've had one on me for 5 years everyday. I broke the first one-my fault not the Micra and immediately got another one.

I was trying to use the flat screwdriver as a crowbar. Lesson learned.

It would be awsome if Victorinox made a version of the micra. IMO Vic's components are designed the best, there just isnt any comparison.

The Leatherman Squirt S4 would also be an option and a bit more compact. But the Micra is still the better tool.

I own both a Crosscut and a Micra, and though the Crosscut is not bad at all, I really prefer the Micra. I've been carrying a Micra for probably over ten years now. I had taken about a year+ where I replaced my Micra with a Crosscut, but I feel more comfortable with the Micra; that and the fact that the other tools on the Micra are better, and its scissors give a cleaner cut.

I've worn out the pivots on a Crosscut cutting heavy fabric (about 15-20') The Micras I've carried hold up much better in my experience, but when the blades get dull, it's hard to do much to sharpen them as they don't open very wide. I agree that a Victorinox version would be a great upgrade, their scissors are generally good at edge holding, but as the scissors on the Swisstool are much smaller than those on the Micra so they don't see as much use in my EDC
