Micro-Chipping

I have a Ken Onion, Shun Chef's knife that is micro-chipping in several places. What causes this? Is this a common problem?

Haven't heard anyone mention this with a Shun, but microchipping isn't uncommon with new knives. If you still have a problem after you've given it a thorough sharpening a time or two, contact Kershaw, I'm certain they'll take care of you.
 
They are very fine knives but not designed for chopping bones of chickens etc. If you have not abused it then perhaps it's a HT problem.
