Ok I got my new micro mesh belts. I started with my kershaw scallion and started with a 400mx and work my way up 800mx and so on. Over all I was very pleased. Now I'm a newbie and don't know all the finer points of belt technology. I bought MX and SO and the regular when there wasn't a MX or AO all the way up to 12000. Given that my technique is not the best I still a achieved what I call great results. I was able to remove most of the scratches that I made with the Darex belts and got a relatively good mirror finish (for a beginner ). I now know that going in finer meshes makes a huge difference. This is not meant to be an in depth review. Just a little bit that I learned as a beginner, from reading old posts. I love sharpening knives it's a thrill for me to go from, can't cut butter to slicing the toughest hide like it's melted butter. I hope it helps other newbies out there.
