Found these babies lurking at a Target Store for $9.95. The are super slim (Less then a 1/4") and a little less the 2.5" long. I think they are made by Coast Cutlery with Eddie Bauer's name scribed on the powder coated anodized aluminum barrel. Rank pretty high on the gadget factor. They have a 3v lithium stick battery that powers the LED light for 20 hours. Light turns on with a twist. O-rings that seal the battery compartment. The only problem is that it's about 2/3 less in brightness then a red photon II. Highly recommended if you have $10 burning in your pocket.

*Can be found in the camping department.

They do have an upgraded version of this product. It's about 1" wide 2.25 long, white LED, burn time of 200+ hours. Has three small hearing aid batteries powering it. Push button for momentary light only though. Looks heavier too.

Very nice! Thanks for the pictures. I'll have to take a look at this light when I'm at Target the next time.

Can you tell yet how durable the coating is? Also, how much are the batteries? And do they seem to be held securely with no rattling or flicker? You mentioned that they have an O-ring. Does the packaging say what kind of water-resistance to expect?

Thanks a lot.

tarsier

I have had the flashlight on my chain for two days now, not a mark on it made from the other keys.

Not sure how much the batteries are ... I know I saw them selling the same kind 2 for 6 bucks in the fishing section. I think they use them to power lure lights.

No rattle, no flicker, the end cap is a little rubberized thus holding the battery firmly against the contacts.

Package doesn't say how water resistant. I would say it would survive if you dropped it in a pool. Guess I will have to try it one day. :D

Thanks,

Ryan

I met the guy who designs these at his stand at the SHOT Show in Vegas. I describe him as a intense, passionate, German.

Anyway,
He gave me a V16 that uses two of those strange batteries.

He was hurling his LED Lights at the floor, had some switch on in a fishtank.

I have the V16 somewhere - I hope. The clip came off and got lost. the V16 was in a jacket pocket a couple months ago...

Hey Guys..

Very cool..

Where does one get a battery for the bloody thing ??

They look like air Taser probes!!!

Eric...

But hard to get batteries and only 20 hours?

The CMG Tasklight runs on a single AA batteries and 40 hours per battery. I can usually grab a "dead" battery from my GPS unit or walkman and still get about 5 hours from that.

If it wasn't for the fact that I still carry a White Photon II (Key Chain) & Surefire E2e-HA (Pocket) I would see it as a problem. It's more or less a back up to a back up to a backup. :D

With the chain attachment off, it goes in the wallet very nicely.
