I searched the site here and didn't find much/anything about micro seal. Doing a Google search for micro seal knives, I found this:

http://microleak.com/

Is this the Micro Seal you speak of?

If so, can you please describe what you do and which of their products you use?

Thanks in advance.

(this may need to be moved to the Maintenance, Tinkering & Embellishment Section BUT I wanted Oregon to see it.)

Nope not that stuff. Tuff Glide is what I use. Even on my most precious one of a kind antique. Wear gloves, avoid inhaling fumes, take it outside to cure and remove excess.

Thanks for your guidance.

When you wrote, "micro seal to stop aging", I thought you were doing some special space age, cryoapplication treatment to the steel under infrared lights or something exotic like that. :)

Thanks again for clearing that up.

What I use does get in at the molecular level to stop ageing, full stop. I've used it, with the cautions noted above, for many years on key pieces to wholly satisfactory results. Contact my heirs for complete results! :)

I have pieces, a few one of one, that I wouldn't own unless I honestly believed I could shepherd them thru time to the next owner without friction from what previous cutlery collectors experienced as ravages of time.

If you can find materials that preserve better while doing less harm please point them out. I am hungry to learn.

So Oregon, you're applying a coating of the Tuff Glide, then let it dry in the sun? Then wipe off excess after its dried out?

I have Tuff Glide amongst the usual million bottle of stuff we tend to accumulate. But have just kind of wiped it on and off like a gun oil or something. Never bothered reading the instructions which is typical.

For the record, I was not making fun or being critical in any way, I just didn't expect your answer to be so simple.

Most of us are hungry to learn...Are you using the standard version or the thicker marine version?
