I made this yesterday out of a piece of an old broken Walmart machete.
It's almost a functional little thrower, but it's just a wrap around and I don't have the ability to weld it. So for now it's just decorative ( it is tempered and the eye won't just open itself up, but I still wouldn't trust it )

I really wish I could've welded it because it's really tempting to try throwing it 😁 I think that if I could weld it it would be perfect for throwing at a foam target in my hallway.

Get it how you want it and take the head off. Mail it to me and I'll mig weld it and send it back.

I cut the bit back about 1/4" because it seemed a little long for its size, and I ground it to prep for welding. For some reason I can't pm to ask for an address though.
I really appreciate the offer to weld it for me, I don't think this will stick in a piece of wood but I'll just have to try when it's finished 😁

It's not sharpened as I'll be re tempering it ( being welded I'll be able to leave the eye a bit softer than the rest like it should be ) but the corners are fairly points so I elk tape it up for safety .

I gave the eye a bit of a taper and made a proper slip fit handle.
Now it's good to go and ready for welding .

Wow that is really tiny! What s cool little project. Can't wait to see how it turns out. Also, throwing in the hall? I'm sure my better half wouldn't that fly! Haha awesome stuff!

I throw darts, shoot airguns ( at a pellet trap ) ...ect in my hallway. what I plan on doing is getting a chunk of that pink styrofoam or maybe even one of those cheap throwing knife targets.
I could also make a my one with stack of cardboard strips ( edges facing out of course ) I'll have to get that figured out once this little hawk is finished.

That little hawk head is in the mail, and he Informed me that he plans on posting some pictures after he welds it up. And I'll post some pictures after I get it finished.

Look what I have...
We'll see what I can do to get it welded.

I made a new tapered slip fit handle with enough room to fit it to whatever size the eye ends up being. I also started making a drift ( hopefully drifting it will also leave it as a circle instead of a an almond shape ) which I'll finish according to the head when I get it back.

Thanks for following along, and please stay tuned for more updates 👍

Not bad, but it could use a little more metal to fill in the front of the eye.

Stand by. That little line where blade is bent over then back is killing me. I need to fill that in a touch more.

Man that's awesome, you went way above and beyond , I can't thank you enough👍 I didn't expect you to blend everything togeather as well.

Now we all know what 10$ machetes are good for 😁

Speaking as a welder, it's just better practice and easier to blend etc. while you have the welder handy so you can build up material if you need too rather than be forced to remove material to even things out.

It looks great. I think you need to find a tiny set of stamps and put 'made in the USA' on it.
