Here is a pair of neck knives designed by and made for one of our forum members, Bimmer1. The pair were made from 3/16" thick 1095 carbon steel, and have 2 3/4" blades and are 6" oal. Basket weave carbon fiber handle slabs with stainless hollow tubes serving as pins. We talked about doing Japanese cord wrap over stingray, but opted for the CF.

Enjoy the knives Bimmer1:)

David Dempsey

Thanks for the comments! Sorry about the triple post, but all I did was hit submit. Cranked out a bunch of recurves here lately, due in part to the influence of Bimmer1:)

All the best,

David

Wow! I received the two micro elephant tusk knives today from David Dempsey (Hero of the knifemakers). I'm quite pleased with the blades and the carbon fiber slabs are great. We debated seriously on the use of carbon fiber. My initial sketches were for an addition to the mini Asian Elephant Tusk that David unveiled at the Blade Show. The micros were supposed to have ray skin under black diamond cord wrap. We felt that the carbon fiber handles would allow these neck knives to become daily users without the worry and possible maintenance involved in a rayskin/cord wrapped knife.
Of course that shouldn't prevent anyone from ordering one with rayskin, or gator skin, or even the cool ostrich skin that David has tucked away in his shop. The knife is a great user recurve. The clip point is sure to be a favorite, but the micro tanto tusk recurve is a fresh outlook for the recurve market.

Thanks David for doing a great job and for looking at and listening to my ideas. I'm glad that you have the difficult job of figuring out exactly how the knife will be done. The finished product always looks better in the hand than it does when I have it sketched on paper.:D

I decided to bring this post back to life in case someone missed the picture the first time around.
These are great little knives.:D

what to do what to do.....;)

sweet knives David! Would look good next to your necker!

You can not beat a recurve blade in my opinion...

Bimmer, you 1 lucky SOB!;)

Yes, I was quite fortunate to get the first pair of these carbon fiber neck knives. Mr. Dempsey makes some really great little neck knives.
Of course there is no reason why someone else shouldn't own a pair as well. I'm sure that David can make a few more.;)

Appreciate you Bimmer1.

DM, as a fellow maker I appreciate your interest and critique. Thank you.

Good to hear from you Gundy. Give me a shout when your are ready;)

Thanks for the compliment Paul.

Dennis if your serious drop me an email and we can put a hawkbill together for you. That would be cool.

Thanks again for looking,

David Dempsey

Glad you brought these back up. I missed 'em first time around. Very nice work David! :) I really like that funky tanto!

Hey Peter,

Thanks for the compliment and I also agree with you. Funky is a great way to describe them both:) Imagine how funky the hawkbill would be! Makes me want to put one together.

Great knives!!!

And nice Walther pistol. Is it a PPK 380 caliber?

Thanks Emanuel,

Yes it is a stainless 380 that belongs to my wife! The flashlight in the pic is a Surefire MT3 combat light, that is powerfull beyond belief. That baby will light up the night:D

Regards,

David

Man I missed these the first time. I love that recurve tanto. I definitely have to have one of those, but it will have to wait until I pay for the Dempsey Dagger I've already have on order. You guys better get on David's list now while it's "only" 4 months long. I bet it will be over a year by summer time.

Great work once again David!!!!! Love what you can do with CF.

keep up the superb work;)
