Micromesh with wicked edge?

I'm going to be picking up a wicked edge and was going to use some wet/dry sandpaper after the diamonds. I remembered I have micro mesh belts I use on the grinder and was wondering if anyone uses these with the wicked edge? I believe I have AO for the grinder, but they recommend MX for metal finishing although it doesn't come close to AO in terms of grit. Anyone have a suggestion? Should I get AO or MX? Or just stick with wet/dry?

may want to check out the video below... I seem to recall him using some of the wet dry 3m sandpaper with excellent results. I don't see any reason not to use AO on your WEPS. I just recently got in some diamond lapping films I am looking forward to trying.

I've actually watched that vid 2 or 3 times haha. I'll probably pick up some of the 3m to use after the 1k stones and finish with 5, 3.5, 1 and .5 micron pastes. I hope that should be enough for an edge that has few scratches that are visible. I may pick up some of the ao if I don't get the results I was looking for.

Another question, I've seen a few posts saying that the stones could be slightly worn in by rubbing two stones of the corresponding grits together. Does this work well?

Yes, it works quite well. Be very, VERY gentle about it! Only a little bit, then try them on a knife, then a little more if you need to.

My.02, just use them, they'll break in quick enough. There's a risk of stone damage rubbing them together, and there's no reverse gear if you do. If you do decide to do it, heed Komitadjie's advice times 10. ;)

You might also consider the new Micro-Fine ceramics... I wasn't going to get them, but glad I did. They've become probably my favorite stones in the lineup.
