I carry a microstream USB at work, and am getting tired of it.
I'd like something with a longer runtime that charges much faster. ?

Is there anything about the same size that's just as basic with only 1 or 2 modes, rechargeable, and preferably USBC or really anything that charges faster than micro USB ?
Ideally under $75.

Well, I don’t know if this is the solution or not but a Thrunite Archer Mini arrived about the time you posted this yesterday. It is a USB C rechargeable. Shorter than the Microstream. The first mode is low and that is supposed to have a 7 1/2 hour runtime. Not exactly sure how you’re using your light, but if all you need it for is the low light that should give you quite a bit of life. I’m not necessarily a fan of the button because it comes on very easily and it doesn’t have a momentary on option. In order to get to the high beam you have to do an actual double click. There is a strobe mode which I will never use and wish it didn’t have. The big river site had it for about $10 shipped and I thought it was worth the price of a couple of beers to at least try it out.

I have carried just a standard micro stream for years and found it to be pretty much the perfect pocket light. I use rechargeable batteries and probably only swap it about once a month. I also carry the same light at work every day, but I use a 10440 in that. I do have a Microstream USB in the tan color that goes to the high beam first. I really do love that light and have been anxiously waiting to see if they will convert it to USB C, all for the simplicity of having only one type of charging cord needed, especially when I travel. If it was USB C I would think it would be about perfect.

I also need something a little brighter, but didn't mention it because I assumed it would be a given.

I've been looking online and still not finding anything.
It is starting to look like there is no ideal replacement for the microstream USB and won't be until Streamlight finally introduces a microstream USB-C.

Have you checked out Streamlight’s Wedge models? There are 3 versions available now. All are USB-c rechargeable.

This is the new one. Should work in the side loop of most sheaths and the clip will hold it there.

Downside is no easily replaced battery.

Not many in the same size and output as the Microstream that also include USB charging port. I'd buy a second one and just carry one while the other charged.

I do know that a 10440 will work in a Microstream USB, so if you wanted to at least carry a spare battery you could do that. You would just have to charge them separately. Or you could buy a second battery specifically for the light and have that handy. You would just have to charge it in the light.

I don't think the Microstream can be beat, for the combination of size, output, rechargeability and price. It's not perfect, but I don't think anything better exists that isn't more expensive or requires removing the battery to charge.

I agree. I have bought a few different lights over the years but I keep coming back to the Microstream and USB version when I put a light in my pocket.

I don't mind removing the battery to charge I don't think, but I haven't found anything that's the same size with just 1 or 2 modes and is equally as bright.

This might be an option for you. A regular Microstream with a USB C rechargeable 10440 battery. Carry a spare and you’re good. It also works in the Microstream USB so you would have both high and low mode if that’s what you are after. The pelican 1910 also has a high and low mode and works with the 10440. With that you can use aaa or 10440’s.
