Microtech Amphibian OR Socom Elite

Hey guys!

My damn knife is still on back order but should ship out soon.I am ordering the Socom as of now. My question for you guys is I do have a few days of final thinking if I wanna get a different knife. Out of the 2 I mentioned. Amphibian or the Socom Elite which would you guys choose? Heres a pic of both.

Be honest if one is far better then the other or if one has a disadvantage or something. Thanks guys

I think that the pic is of the Socom not the Socom Elite, the SE has thicker blade (about .17 vs .148) and the microbar as opposed to a Ti liner lock on the Socom, a slightly different blade, and the SE also has a krayton inlay on the right side. In maual form i would rather have the Socom Elite, but it is out of production as far as we know on BF.

Amphibian has better saber grip ergonomics but sucks in reverse grip, cutting performance is prolly better than the Socom and Socom Elite, is tip up, has funky thumb studs that work well, and has the microbar lock.

Socom has better reverse grip ergos and a regular liner lock. i would say in many ways it is inferior to the Amphibian just because it is an older design. But if you offered me a Socom or an Amphibain i would take the Socom just becuase it is more my style.

Socom E is everything that the socom is and more, if you find one at a good price buy it.

I have an Amphibian on the way right now. I find the Amphibian to be a little more of a utilitarian design and the SOCOM is more of a fighter IMHO. This makes me prefer the Amphibian for EDC. I am in no way knocking the SOCOM. The one SOCOM elite that I handled was an awesome knife. I would love to own a SOCOM ELITE one day if Microtech would start making them again.

Have had both . . . prefer the Amphibian. Don't need the reverse grip capabilities of the SOCOM and prefer the tip strength and recurve of the Phib. Just my two cents!
