I recieved my 10/98 MT SOCOM clip point today and love the knife. My question is as follows. On the cardboard sleeve that covered the box it says SOCOM "Silver" plain edge. Does that mean bead blast or Chromium Nitrate? I've owned bead blasted knives before to include a M-UDT. It looks alot lighter than the others. It also holds finger prints more than bead blast would normally. Is it CN? I called MT, but the Tech guys were out. Is there a way to tell with out scratching the blade? It didn't say Bead Blast on the box. Only silver.

Funny, was going to ask the same question. I recently got a tanto silver plain. I don't think it is bead-blast as it seems to some sort of coating. I get white stains with WD40 although it wipes off with some pressure. Stuff seems to stick to it real good.
