I have just bought my first Microtech and recevied it yesterday.

It is a partially serrated silver bladed kestral and I am greatly impressed with the workmanship.

I also have a small sebenza coming acorss the pond as I type so I am looking forward to comparing the two.

The reason for my post (other than to share my joy in a new purchase :) ) is to aks about the numbering on the blade.

On the right hand side of the microtech logo is the number 7/99

Does tyhis mean that the knife was the 7th kestral made in 1999???

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks Bigmann

I can now see why people go on about the quality of their products, I have never seen a liner lock like it.

i got mine also because i live in vero beach florida
and the factory is a couple of miles from my house
and a few guys i knew had them and i was like damn
nice knife before that i mostly owned case pocket
knives and the like but now i have to have as many
microtechs and spydercos i can get my hands on lol

Got me a Socom Elite born June 2000. I just read today in Blade magazine that they're going to be moving to CPM S30V for their standard steel and S90V for their premium steel.

Cool.

I guess 2 Kestrel's flew across the pond this week :)

I too and greatly impressed by the quality. The way the rubber inserts are finished on the aluminium handles is flawless. (I wish I could have the same inserts on my Sebenza).

Great little knife.
