Microtech DOC pocket clip

So I am relatively new to the knife world and have been reading up about a knife that I am very interested in, the microtech DOC, and it is very clear that there is one major drawback, the pocket clip that sticks out way too far. I really like the shape of this knife and it's in the right price range for my next knife. So are there any ways to remove the pocket clip or for someone with limited shop experience to fix this problem? If not is it still worth getting or should I look into other options? (If I should look into other knives what knife would you recommend in this price range?)

Most clips can be bent if you have access to basic bench tools: a vice; some good pliers; maybe some heat.

That particular knife will be more of a pain in the butt than most because Microtech uses proprietary screw heads (not sure if you can find the right tool to remove them without damage). And they'll void your warranty if you modify the knife...or even take it apart for routine cleaning and service.

On the other hand, I dealt with Tony Marfione directly many years ago (maybe '99 or '00) when I accidentally bent the clip on my Lightfoot LCC. He was very cool about it and sent me a free replacement. People slag him, but my limited experience with him has been positive.

I have a doc and carry it often. I have seen one YouTuber bitching about the clip but I have never had a problem with it. After I saw that video I squeezed the knife in my palm hard and still didn't feel the clip digging into my hand. It's an awesome knife.

I may be remembering wrong, but I think I recall hearing that the clip design was redesigned at some point early in production, following the aforementioned complaints. I have two and I do not find the clips bothersome whatsoever. As you can see in the pics below the clip does stick out, but for me it falls at a spot in the palm where it does not bother me. YMMV

As for alternatives, check out Guardian Tactical. Their designs seem similar to me, and the one I have flips much better than my DOCs

Although I've never had any interest in a DOC (no leftys) The only real heavy complaining I heard was from "Mr. Skullhead" on YouTube.
The knife is essentially an almalgamation of a Microtech Select Fire blade on a Strider SnG handle.

Thanks everyone! I decided to buy it and see what I think of it myself and if I end up not liking it I will find a way to fix it! Thanks and Im excited about the new knife!

It is a great looking knife. I would love one in green. I know folks that have them, love them.

The clip doesn't look like it would be an issue. I just did a search for the DOC.
