Hi all,

This is my first post, although I’ve been reading for a long time now. I recently got my hands on a Microtech Dragonfly and thought you might be interested to have my impressions after a few hours use.

I am very impressed with the quality of this knife. As many have already stated it is very light although at the same time gives an impression of strength and solidity. There is almost no blade play and the (bronze?) washers make for a very smooth and silent action.

Some may be worried that aluminium handles will not hold-up to hard flipping but I don’t believe this to be an issue. The aluminium seems much tougher than that of a CCC and after many hours of hard use there is almost no sign of wear. The only visible trace of use is a small chip in the anodising caused by the latch, which I have now removed (much better  ).

Whilst I’m not an expert flipper, the knife does seem to flip very well (at least for me . The knife must be manipulated slightly differently because of the light handles but after a short adaptation time I find the weight doesn’t hinder flipping at all.

I love the way it looks! It has as a tactical design. Considering the popularity of tactical folders in general, I’m surprised that this is the only decent quality tactical production Balisong. I chose Microtech’s stonewash finish for the blade and I’m very pleased with it. I would describe it as being something of a mix between a polished blade and a bead-blasted one.

Sorry for the almost complete lack of negative points in the review… I’ve searched hard to find some fault with the kife, to add a bit of balance to the review but I really can’t come up with anything at all except the latch issue! This knife is a real gem, and has now become my favourite folder, even surpassing my Spyderco carbon fibre Police, earning itself first place in my EDC list.

Finally, I bought the knife from Spoon River Cutlery and would like to thank Walter Krafft for the excellent and very prompt service I received. I don’t live in the States so contacted Walter to see if everything would be OK with my order. I was treated very well and my emailed questions were always replied to within the shortest possible delay :)

Best regards to all (great forum)
