I am personally glad to be honest and not intending to be controversial, I don’t appreciate the Chinese government’s hostility. China makes fakes, uses American company names and addresses and logos and they ship knives to the states posing as originals. This behavior is criminal let alone spying, selling weapons to Iran and Russia, the Chinese people are not the problem, their government is. I really enjoy my Microtech collection as I do my Medford and Chris Reeve collections, I don’t buy Chinese knives because some of that money goes to a government that despises the USA and works very diligently to undermine and defeat us in every way.

I was not thrilled with the Rike collaboration and maybe there will be more but for now, I am glad Microtech is US-centric again.

I was okay with the rike made microtechs. they weren't bad knives, but kinda pricey. I even have a couple of them.

also ibtl.....

I was surprised when x-ring mentioned the collaboration being terminated in the latest YouTube video about the new Microtech with zero blade play - both will be interesting to see (the new OTF and the future of Microtech and China collabs).

It’s interesting what people will take a stand for while they use Chinese electronics, wear Chinese clothes, take medicine made in China, use batteries made in China… the list goes on. As consumers we have little power in what money goes to China. We have outsourced most manufacturing and production to China through government decision.

I personally only buy CRK because I love them, being in the USA makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. I will not fool myself by convincing myself that my knife purchasing influences the PRC in any major way.

FYI, Samsung is out of China and is building factories in the US.

This argument is ridiculous to me; it's nowhere near that simple. Niche high end consumer products aren't where the Chinese government is making money, in fact there's a pretty good chance something like this is heavily subsidized. As for the attack on our liberties, I'd argue that the taxes we pay to bankroll the NSA do that more effectively than a foreign government could.
