Microtech factory angles

So today I decided to rebevel my socom elite and learned that the factory angles were above 30° on each side  I find it crazy that microtech puts such a steep angle on these and to top it off the bevel was not even all the way across from factory. I still love this knife but damn it was a total pain in the ass to sharpen down to a 30° angle. Anyone else experience this from their microtechs?

That photo is after reprofiling? The bevel doesn't look too wide now so I guess the edge was reasonably thin despite the obtuse angle. You're at 30° inclusive now?

I'm at 30° on each side. Which is an improvement. I prefer much lower angles but I would have been grinding away at this thing all night with my 140 grit stone. I think when I get a 50 or 100 grit stone ill bring the angle down.

My Dirac Delta DE dagger style I bought from EK Knifves is so bad, I thought it might be a clone. Very steep angles, and uneven. I have 2 new machines, a T4 Tormac and a Bucktool 8" But I'm not going to try to fix my Microtech, until I do much more research. Yea, sure, I could send it back, But I'd rather fix it myself. Sad though. :(

It's difficult to get a good reading on my UTX-70 from my goniometer, but my best guess is 28deg on each side.

I just took the blade out of my Dirac Delta, and reworked it on my Tormac T4. After stropping, it now shaves paper. Would not, out of the box.

Not sure about an OTF, but the socom and LUDT are tactical/utility type knives and as such would benefit from a stronger thicker apex which hopefully wouldn’t require as much maintenance. Not really designed for cutting tomato slices or paper and such. Only an opinion on possibly why they do that. I wouldn’t normally want that type of edge either but trying to figure some logic to it.
