At the german language knife forum it is rumoured that Microtech is going to cease production of the Socom Elite models. Furthermore someone affirms that Microtech sooner or later will even cease existing.
Is that a fact?

I have heard nothing of those rumors, and highly doubt them to be true, but then again what do I know....

The entire SOCOM series is now discontinued. As far as the future of Microtech, it has been and remains a rocky road but we have been hearing this for a while so who knows.

Mike,

I have been told by 2 distributors that the manual Elites are done. Maybe you can clear it up.

This is what I have been told. "The auto Elites had a few hundred handles left and they were going to take requests for any special runs. Then that was the end of them to."

What is the deal on the Elite? I have no fear of MT closing up themselves. I don't like starting rumors, merely ending them.

Mike,

You state

Care to elaborate? I'm not trying to be rude, just curious.

Thanks,
Chris

The regular SOCOM and Mini Socom have been out of production for quite a while now. The ELITE will also soon be retired.

For a similar size and price point, the Amphibin will most likely take the place of the SOCOMs for most people, but if you like the SOCOM as much as I do I would buy a few now while you can.

PS -- there are over 100 Original SOCOM Dual Action handles left lying around. From what I have been told these are going to be used to probably do a semi-custom run of more DA Socoms. I know for a fact they will be doing one for me, which the will make 4 more of.

MT might do better financially if they built more manuals than autos since autos are only legal to LE or Military.

I have a Socom elite manual and it is superb. Anyone know when the tanto version in manual will come out?

When are the SOCOM elites going to be discontinued? This year? Next year?

Rouge spear,

The manuals are not being made anymore.

ALL SOCOMs are discontinued. The only ones available are currently in distribution unless there are a few more handles floating around MT.

Don't have the list in front of me but there are more than a few states where switchblades (tired of being politically correct) are legal for private citizens, Florida, Texas and Oregon come to mind first. Microtech might do better financially if Tony listened to Alphonse and ran the company as a business and not a hobby

M/T makes excellent manuals but they made their name producing superb auto OTF's. If it isn't auto give me a fixed blade, manuals (except for Balisongs) are boring
