Browsing some of my favorite knife sites and came across this fixed blade from Microtech. Has a weird twisting triangular type grind, the knife screws into the sheath making a billy club?,totally weird. I kind of like it just for it's uniqueness but question any remote amount of practicality. Anyone else seen this knife?

That knife is an amazing achievement in both craftsmanship and and uselessness.

Since that thing screws into the sheath, it would impractical to use the edge of the blade of defense unless you can unscrew that thing faster than it takes for me to flick open my EDC. It seems that using it as a club would come first; Unscrewing it for utility knife work second.

Also, its very Tacti-COOL

With a little machining it would make a bad-ass bayonet... Too bad it breaks the Geneva Convention.

The Jagdkommando (lit. Hunting Command) is the Austrian Armed Forces' Special Operations group. The duties of this elite unit match those of its foreign counterparts, such as the United States Army Special Forces, being amongst others Counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency. Jagdkommando soldiers are highly trained professionals whose thorough and rigorous training enables them to take over when tasks or situations outgrow the capabilities and specialisation of conventional units.

OK. Austrian special forces. I wonder what they would think about this knife? I can't see them schlepping these up and down the mountains. In fact, I can't see them doing much with these but looking at them with a puzzled expression.

After you unscrewed it from it's "sheath" and, in the process, were stabbed with a $10 gas station knife 26 times? :D

Yeah, can you imagine standing there frantically unscrewing it while the other person is charging at you...lmao!

It is not meant to be practical, that much is obvious, but I do like it. It would be nice to have a few of those around, but that will only happen if I ever win the power ball. I would have to have a LOT of money before that I could consider that knife practical, in a sense.

You guys are fixating on defensive use... This knife isn't about defensive use... The name, Jagdkommando comes from the German words Jager, meaning Hunter, and Kommando, meaning a classic 1980 Arnie film...in which he hunted down the bad guys who kidnapped his daughter and killed them with his snarky one-liners... This blade screams "COVERT DEANIMATION!!!" and it channels the blood splatter into a fine spiral pattern which will really throw off the CSI...er... I mean, really dishearten the friends of those you have to hunt down and covertly deanimate... This knife is brilliant!

Its cool and I like it. Totally unusable though, from practical and tactical standpoints.

Would make a nice conversation starter :P

Sorry, but I just saw this knife for the first time and had to necro this thread.

And to think ... the Condor pipe knife used to give me the willies! This thing looks like it was forged by some evil spirit from a D&D game. Yes, it's useless as far as normal people are concerned - honestly, it useless as far as military personnel are concerned as well. Yes, its WAY too expensive... But I still want one! I think I'll wait until BudK makes a cast 420 version for $40 though.

Honestly the thing is a work of twisted art. Mictrotech deserves everlasting fame - or perhaps infamy - for creating what is no doubt the most malicious edged weapon the human race has seen thus far.

for some reason i'm guessing if this came out at a 100$ price point you'd never hear a single complaint about it and it'd be the next best thing since sliced bread.

most of you are snobs, the rest of you are just jealous.*
