Hey Microtech experts, I got a question for you. I wonder what are Microtech LCC liners made of. I am proud owner of the 2002 Gen. 4 LCC D/A and was aware that they are made of titanium alloy. Until recently have checked them with magnet... and they are magnetic. What about your LCCs?

Now I'm curious how LCC was described in older catalogs. I got the newer one (dealer 2005 catalog) and MTX2 (similar construction) liners are described as titanium. Can you help me to solve this trivia?

 Mine is magnetic too. I have the older model with the 154CM blade

The liners look like titanium but they shouldnt be magnetic if they are.

My Gen 2 is steel lined. 154CM blade, and Titanium bolsters. Up through Gen 4 (2002-ish?), I believe they were all steel. I had the MTX2, and it does have Titanium liners. I checked it with a magnet, to be sure. I think they got the combo right with the MTX2: Titanium liners, AND titanium bolsters. Now, if they would have just made the clip titanium, too...

The liners have always been steel. The bolsters were originally Ti, but Microtech eventually switched to aluminum.

Is it official MT statement? If so, I wonder why they chose steel instead of titanium. Lower cost of materials and workmanship in a 330$ (street price) folder? Other reasons? I am aware that both, steel and titanium alloys have pros and cons and personally I am not sure which prefer but most of the custom makers and high-end production companies use in their knives titanium.

Thank you all for the replies

Bolsters were Ti, then went to Al. 100% guaranteed! Liners are steel .
