I really like the micarta folders, and obvoiusly if I could afford it, I would get a Dozier, BUT, I'm sure someone out there OWNS one or BOTH and has some info on these two pocketbook friendly knives. The details I'm looking for are..

Fit/Finish
Lockup
EDC worthy?
And any other details you may have.

As ALL of my knives are, it will be a USER, so I guess any info on how these hold up would be great!

These are two different knives for sure. The Spyderco is considerably smaller and is more of a large dressy pocket knife while the LCC is definitely "tactical". I love both of these knives and own both. The fit and finish on the Viele is excellent, and the new VG-10 bladed models are sharp beyond belief. My LCC has titanium bolsters and Carbon Fiber handles. It is extremely well made also but it has more of a "rough and ready" aura compared to the Viele. You can't go wrong with either but they are not at all similar.

Ditto on Anthony,
Had both knives and really liked them both, and wouldn't mind getting the newer Viele with VG-10 sometime....next one maybe?

thanks much, but I know about their intended uses. I realize that there is a considerable size difference, and since I'm thinking EDC (looking for something to replace my sm. sebenza while it's getting refurbed) I was kind of fading toward the Viele for it's smaller size. BUT I've kinda gotten addicted to the titanium.
How does the Viele compare to the titanium lockup of the LCC?

Is SS as good/strong (whatever!) as titanium?

What about the aluminum spacers on the LCC... is this a weak link?

archieblue -- gotta remember that titanium is stronger than steel by weight. If the two liners are equal in thickness, the steel should be much stronger.

The new Viele is an excellent knife. It is smaller than LCC but it is not small. It can handle any task yo ucan imagine. The lock is very secure - it is the best liner lock I have seen so far.

I got mine here for 95.00 delivered: George Bartley [bartlg@hotmail.com]

You have to take into consideration what you really want out of this knife: Tactical or EDC.

I have both, I have even borrowed my buddies Dozier, and yes...all three are SWEET...and yes, all three are well worth the money.

BUT: I carry my Viele as a GENTELMEN's folder, while I carry my LCC when I am slightly dressed up, and I require a more substantial piece.

If I could only have ONE knife between the three...it would be the LCC...tough as nails, and sharps as hell!

I only have the LCC but I use the LCC as my daily carry and I love it. It it my all time favorite knife right now. I have a Sebbie on the way that might take its place. At first the weight of the LCC bothered me but after I carried a couple of days I didn't notice it anymore. Mine has VERY good fit and finish and it has a great liner lock. The blade to me is very usefull as an EDC.

Do you guys have the *micarta* LCC?
The carbon fiber is kinda rough...
maybe I'm just not used to it?

Youve got a really hard choice there. Ive got both and switch between the two through out the day. I carry one for awhile then while back at the desk I switch it out for the other.

Ive bought more knives than I care to admit over the years and these two have become pretty much my top two favorites. I thought it funny that your post was of these two.

My Viele is the newer style and it locks up great. The only thing Id like to see changed is to have the blades washers made of bronze instead of the nylon type.

The only thing I wanted to see changed on the LCC was to have a solid clip option...And after just a short time of yappin about it, we got it

.

My advice, go ahead and try to get both

Hi. I own an LCC. Don't own a Viele, but played with it and love it too. Ask you self three VERY important questions:
1) Do I mind carrying a pretty big folder (LCC?)
2) Are people that I work with going to think I'm a serial killer if I carry the LCC?
3) which feels better in my hand?
As I've said, I own the LCC, but I don't carry it often, It's a whole lot of knife, and many people here on the forums have sold it because they found it too big or heavy. If you do go with it, I suggest using the belt sheath. And as far as the carbon fiber handle goes, I don't find it rough at all. It much smoother than G-10, but not quite as smooth as micarta. Good Luck. Let us know which you pick.

Oh, and fit/finish and lock up on both are fan-fricking-tastic. You have very good taste in knives to have picked these two beauts. Heck, just get both, you know you're going to anyway, eventually. After all, you've got the disease, just like the rest of us. 8*)
