Hello to all & thank you for any & all help that you can provide me with. I have a Microtech LCC D/A Micarta handle with a S90V stonewashed 1/2 serrated blade. To get to the point, Is this a rare knife to have or what? I bought this one because I haven't seen any other LCC's with the S90V blade, or any other knives for that matter. Is this a better blade to have over the other ones? I have tried to do a search on here about this & I really didn't come up with much. Maybe it could be because I didn't look as much as I should have or ?????
I normally use my knives for mostly light to medium duty & rarely for heavy duty.
It is still new in the box & I am wondering if I should take it out & use it for EDC or what......I have another D/A LCC with a stonewashed 20CV 1/2 serrated blade that I use as my EDC, but I am wondering if the S90V would be a better choice.

Thanks everyone!:)

I have a similar situation with a pair of Microtech Socom Elites. I have an S90V all black Elite model that just sits in my safe. I also have a 154CM blade model (both are palin edge). that I use all teh time. It's my #1 hard use folder.

S90V will gold an edge longer, but is that much harder to re-sharpen if you let it get dull. I hear it's also a bit more brittle than S30V or 154CM, but have not pushed either hard enough to chip them.

I have an LCC/DA plain edge, stone wash, carbon fiber handle in S90V. There were probably fewer made with that steel than the others?

I just don't know if I should use it & see how it is or if I should just hold onto it for a while & see if maybe it would go up in price & sell it down the road?
Got me......

I'm not the total expert on this, but I believe the S90V version was a limited edition. You might try the Microtech Forum over KFC. Or, try www.microholics.org

I think you have a "keeper" there. Good luck with it.:)

knifenerd, thank you for the link. Seems that only 200 of these were made in the style that I have. L:D :D ls like I'll keep for a while longer. THANKS!

Microtech used mostly 154CM then switched to S20V and S30V with smaller numbers (and a higher price) of the S90V blades.

I recently ran across one with a 20C-V blade. This is a Timken "duratech" steel that is EXTREMELY corrosion resistant with an RC 60 rating and is one of very few steels used that contain tungsten.

My question, if anybody knows, is how many LCCs did MT make with 20C-V blades?

Is 20C-V rarer than the S90V?

I was about to throw it in my pocket for an EDC because I loved my 154cm lcc but now I'm thinking twice.

No, I don't think that it is. One of my EDC knives is the LCC with the 20CV blade & I have seen alot of them out there. Much more so over the S90V's. So far, I have been very impressed with the performance of the 20CV blade. It holds an edge for me very well & it sharpens back up rather easily too. I would say go for it & use it!

From what I recall MT switched over to 20C-V steel with the 4th Gen LCCs. This is also when they went to the aluminum bolster for cost savings. I believe that the S90V models are the rarest.
