Hi guys!
What are your opinions on this one? I went to a local store and really liked it. Is $160.00 reasonable for this folder? Also do you recommend a plain or 1/2 serrated for dailu cary and light cutting jobs. I am in the office all day long, so even a $20 knife would do, but this one is so nice :)
Well thanks in advance!

Gregg Tarayan

Oh yeah, how can you post something without mentioning a Sebenza??? How does this knife stacks up against one at 1/2 the price? Sorry if this is an ignorant question.

I was hoping someone would reply before I go and buy, but I guess that didn't happen. Well, off I go!

Welcome to BF. That is about the average price for the LCC.Buy it
you will be well pleased. If this is your first Microtech you will be
amazed at the excellent machining, fit and finish and rock solid lockup.I have plain and serrated versions.

Buy it.

Whether you need plain or serrated depends on your tasks. If you cut rope or anything fibrous then go with the serrated. I think the 1/2 serrated edge is really useful and adds to the overall asthetics of the knife. It makes it kind of look like a shark.

They have been going for about $110 - $120 here on the forums in like new condition. You can usually pick them up on Ebay between $120 and $140.

I have a plain edge one and I really like this knife. Its a little on the heavy side but once you get used to it, it carries very well. I like it because it cuts really good. Great knife if you ask me, I think you will be very happy with it.

Not as smooth on opening as my spyderco knives, but the lcc is a must have. I've had my LCC DA for a while now, and just started to carry it again(back to warm weather and camping/survival). The combo edge is a useful blade, giving enough to do either one well, but not great.

You'll love it when you get over the heft it has.

Well, i had about 2 hours with it. I am not an avid review writer. But here is my experience. This is one wicked blade. I wouldn't want to face anyone with this thing in their hand! The knife is on the heavy side, but comfortable to hold. Opening it takes getting used to. But once the blade started moving its smooth. The lock is absolutely solid. There is no blade movement at all. I am not sure if I like the clip. Its kind of small and very stiff. But time will really tell. How does this knife hold its edge? It surely is sharp out of the box. I am definitely pleased and this one is a keeper!

Took my clip off, sharpened it up how I like my strictly 'Outdoors' knives(sharp enough to whittle, but rough enough to cut rope).

It carries well on my belt. In the sheath tip down. Open sheath and grab, release is in the right spot to hit.

nice to see another guy from NH around here! So far i know of three of us, You Me and A good guy named Ira that goes by Wolfman.

Did you buy the LCC at Tarrant's Cuterly showcase?

He has been marking down a lot of the knives he has had in stock for a while, about a month or so ago i bought an LCC there, i like i paid about 155.

It's my Favourite Knife!

Brian, yes, that's the place. His stuff is little pricey but I figured I am overpaying about $30 over on-line prices but get to have it right away.

Great to see another Granite Stater!!!!! Where is Tarrant's located?
Enjoy the LCC. You cannot go wrong with that knife. I carry an Lcc and an LCC/DA when I venture into Manchester[some areas of!!!] and it certainly can perform a multitute of functions.....

see ya around BF..............Ira;)

Welcome to the Forums, GreggT!:)

The LCC is a great choice. It caused a sensation when it was introduced by MT. It's near custom in quality for a very reasonable price. Some have issues with it's weight, but it carries well and is built like a tank. The liner lock is more secure than on many customs.

Enjoy it and let us know your reactions when you've had a little more time with it.

I have a MT LCC, plain edge. Cuts great!!! Steel has a wickedly thin edge, easy to strop back to wickedly sharp, 2nd sharpest knife I own, the only one I have that is sharper is a full convex grind O-1 blade i made a few months ago. I replaced the CF with ironwood handle scales, and I'm going to redo that because I didnt like the way it turned out. Edge holding is great, and its easy to bring back to that edge. Solid, no lock play, and MT quality fit and finish, which is great! incidentally, i handled a benza at the same store where i handled a LCC. LCC was smoother and felt nicer in my hand, but the benza prob needed a cleaning and lubing at the pivot cuz prob most people would have played with it. Lock on the benza was a tad sticky, too. LCC won hands down in that comparison.

Tarrents is accross from the Mall of New Hampshire, past the Ford Dealership and in the same plaza as ken jones ski.

Its over by Toys R Us, Kmart, and the Armed service recruiting center.

He has a lot of high end stuff, sells at about MSRP, but he has been discounting some stuff recently.

BTW the discounted Cuda Talon is mine :)

I know exactly where it is now. The last time I was in there, his prices were exactly sticker. Maybe he is waking up and realizing that good cutlery shops in NH are few and far between, but no Knifeknut is going to pay full boat on a knife. Is he carrying any known Maker Customs yet?
Thanks............Ira

***Edited to add that I already ran down and picked up that Talon...Great price!!!!!:p :p :p

Nah, just kidding;)

Ya can't go wrong. My everyday carry piece is the 2nd generation, LCCDA. I also have a LCCDA Devin Thomas, damascus blade and a LCCDA MOP. There the best. :)

Guys (and Gals ;) thank you for the replies! I do enjoy the knife very much. The weight isn't an issue at all. It rides in my pocket wonderfully. The clip keeps the knife well secured in the pocket when clipped. At work I get interesting looks when opening an envelope with compact combat knife :)...got to love it! At first I got the serated blade, but next day exchanged it for the plain bead blasted version. I love this knife!
