I have a Microtech Lightfoot LCC Special Edition. Im going to sell it and I was wondering what is different between it and the other non-special edition Lightfoot LCC's I have seen on the web?

Thanks

Dave

I did not Know they has a special edition. Is it marked special edition or does it have some special feature?

I have a regular one and it is one of my favorites.

Dave, welcome to Bladeforums! Before you get too deep into sales talk here, please read the FAQ (in the blue bar at the top of the page) and the information link above that:

If you need information on a particular knife model, it almost always helps to post a good picture of it. The visual clues can eliminate a lot of guessing.

Sorry I didnt mean to allude to a sale to get an offer. I just wanted to get an idea if there was a difference when questions came up when and if I put it up for sale.

The box is marked :

Lightfoot - L.C.C
Manual Action
Black Plain/Special Edition

It was made in 2001 and has black/grey micarta handle. It doesnt say special edition on the blade anywhere. I have seen a number of LCCs on the web and their seems to be a few combos of blade finish and handle materials.

Thanks

Dave

BTW Im not new to the forum. I have been gone a while and I cant seem to get the password re-set to work.

Thanks Dave. I've never seen one like that before. I don't know how rare it is but it sure is a good looking knife. Joe

i dont know why that would be a special edition, i had a LCC exactly like that and it wasnt. and after looking again, yes mine was exactly like that one.

of course MT is famous for there not so specail "special" editions lol.

does it say spec edition on the box, or what?

great knife though, i have had i bet a half dozen LCC's, sold/swapped every one of them too, wish i woulda kept at least one of them.

a std LCC in LNIB shape runs, IIRC, ~ $250.

Well there was a "limited edition" series http://www.lightfootknives.com/lles.htm that came with an Inova light and may have matching serial numbers. However, as you can likely see, only the scales are the same. Folks tend to like the black blade and bolsters, and as you can auction them on ebay (as they are not autos), the M/As have been getting way-high prices, at least way-high to me. That is a good looking knife.
Your might try and contact MT and see if they know why it was/is special. You never know, they might answer you. I would be interested in hearing/reading their response.
all da best,
rats...

That model should have 3 green anadoized spacers on the spine. PM me or shoot me an Email I might have some more info for you.

Yep, it has the anodized greed spacers like you mention.

Also, they box does say special edition.

Thanks

Dave

From Valmet's list:
(1)Prototype Green Micarta scale Tactical MA LCC with Black Boride blade and bolster with Green Spacers made for Shot Show 2001 dated 12/2000 = $235+
Were it this one, and some way to document it, it seems pretty rare.

Here are some better pictures. I dont know if I would call the scales green but they are not black.
