I recently purchased a MT Mini UDT. So a couple of observations. This is a nice little knife. And it is little. I was surprised. Seeing measurements on paper then actually handling the knife are two different things. It's smaller than I thought it'd be. Price. MT makes nice knives. Great quality, good blades, sharp, solid lockup and so forth. And they charge for them. In this case I'm glad I didn't spend more than the $100 I paid. It's a nice little knife. Fit and finish are fine. But i really don't think this a $100+ knife. This is a really nice lightweight small knife that will go well in a suit pocket. Easy to carry, useful for small tasks, automatic so it's easy to open and makes a good little conversation piece. I'd hate to try and open it with a thumb stud, its just too small. I almost forgot to take it out of my shorts pocket before I washed them. I'm not too sure how D2 steel will do going through a wash cycle.
But i like it. I just wouldn't every pay $120, $130, $140 or more for it. I think there are other alternatives out there for less that rival it for small knife functionality. My Kershaw Skyline with Damascus blade is pretty cool, lightweight and slightly bigger. It isn't automatic though. But it's half the price. The Skyline in carbon fiber is even lighter and still quite a bit less than the Mini UDT. If you really want to go budget the Geber LST is small, thin and lightweight. I have one from 20 years ago. Still works fine. Carried it for years. Doesn't have the cool factor the UDT or Kershaw have. But it works. Less than $20.
In the end the Mini UDT is cool, sharp, lightweight and small enough to go into a suit pocket and carry well. I just don't think it is a $100+ knife. Just my humble opinion.
